The countdown is on with less than 100 days until the SB20 European Championships 2025 in Ostend on August 18th – 22nd. The Royal North Sea Yacht Club will host one of the Class’ long awaited European events and it’s not only about sailing. Belgian hospitality will take you to the next level, here is a sneak peek into some of the social highlights of the event.
Welcome to the Brugse Zot Race Village
This year’s event hub will be the Brugse Zot Race Village, a large tent right next to the yacht club featuring a stage, a bar and a seating area. It will be the beating heart of the event — skippers' briefings, awards ceremonies, dinners and live music - will all take place here with plenty of Belgium’s finest beer Brugse Zot, flowing throughout the week thanks to our generous event sponsor.
Live music, Funky vibes and Belgian treats
Daily Live music for you to put your head down after a battle on the waters of the North Sea, including a Thursday night party sponsored by Devoti Sailing.The party will be headlined by Funky D, a band that knows how to light up the dance floor. On Wednesday you’ll be treated to free pancakes from OAYeah Pancakes made with oat drink, less sugar and less saturated fat — a perfect and healthy post-race recovery snack.
Sail in VR, recover in real life
Inside the village, you'll find Spatial Sail, a cutting-edge virtual reality sailing simulator. Developed by Sport Innovatie Campus, the project lets you experience the thrill of sailing in full immersion with no wind required.
From Monday to Thursday Mensa Praktijk will be offering free physio treatments to the sailors to help recover from minor aches, strains or just ease the tension of competitive racing.
Still need a Boat? Charter from Devoti
If you’re still missing a boat to get to the starting line, Devoti Sailing has a limited number of SB20s available for charter. Boats come fully prepared for racing and are available for both training and regatta days — but demand is high, so don’t wait too long.
